Buffalo and Rochester Rushing the Hill
Buffalo and Rochester are making a charge to be the king of the hill. Snow hill that is and if they are smart they will wait until after around 6:30 or so because most likely there will be 30,000 plus SU fans on the SU hill to defend it with the Orangemen game against Marquette going on today. Just a heads up that the schedule says the game is at 2 pm but it's actually at 4 pm. GO CUSE!!!
Here is a time lapse cam shot from Meddaugh on Wunderground that shows a 24 hour time lapse for the Rochester area for the March 7th and 8th storm.
Today, March 7th - 8th
Here is a time lapse cam from Springville, NY which I believe is just south east of Buffalo not far from Lake Erie. I found this on PMS's wundergrounds site.

Buffalo broke a record for the day yesterday picking up 8.2 inches and there is more on the way. Both Rochester and Buffalo are making a late season charge to be the King of the snow mountain in hopes of winning the convented golden snowball trophy and Syracuse better be on the offense to fend them off and probably will be come later this evening. Rochester has closed the gap to almost within a foot of snow and all 3 cities WILL be getting snow today, tonight or both. Buffalo is also closing in on second place right now with less than 5 inches of the white gold separating them and Rochester who picked up 5.5 inches of snow and hit the 90 inch mark. It should be interesting as to how the cities rank come the end of Sunday.
Buffalo for the first time in a long, long time has finally gone over their average snowfall for the date but now Binghamton has fallen below theirs. Then again all of the Golden Snowball cities are over their last seasons totals now except for Syracuse.
From reading around and always check with your local meteorologists it looks like Syracuse may be getting only 3 - 7 inches of snow along with some winds to blow it around come later in the day or evening. Buffalo and Rochester could be getting another 9 - 17 inches by tomorrow morning along with some wind which is why I think the stats should be pretty interesting come tomorrow morning. Is there a new leader in the works???? Enjoy the weekend all and "See Snow, Drive Sow". Take it slow out there on the roads today and tonight.

Just a note to say how depressed and better yet how jealous I am right now that Syracuse is missing out on this storm. GRRRRRR!!!!
Heavy rain earlier here in the Syracuse area along with lightning and thunder. All is quite right now though.
What's going on in Rochester right now? It looks like they are getting some decent snow.
Google blogger has been up and down for the last hour or so, so if your trying to add a comment it might be hit or miss. If you type a long one you might want to copy and paste it just in case :(
Patrick..
When Was The Last Time Did Buffalo Had Above Average Snowfall For The Season(Was It 2002-2003 Season?)
Anyways Some Sleet Is Going On Right Now Which Is Making Things A Lot Worser Here In Buffalo...Because It Is Stiking On Top Of The Snow And BTW Last Night ALL The Models Were Showing Mainly Snow Here In Buffalo Except For The UKMET Which Showed The Mix Over Spreading The Region So Kudos To The UKMET.
But Now It Is Calm Before The Storm...If There Is Some Blizzard Conditions Ill Try To Record It To My Camera And Then Share It With You Guys.
Ayuud, according to our yearly chart it looks like the 2004 - 2005 season was the last time Buffalo hit their average,. That season they had 109.1 inches of snowfall. Here is a link to all of the previous years snow totals courtesy of the General.

Definitely send any pictures or video you get and I'll post them. Most likely I'll be out for awhile tonight catching some basketball games but when I can I'll post them on here if they come out. Right now it looks like you guys have more of a South East wind going which may hurt you a bit. Hopefully not too much mix comes your way to knock down your totals.
well the travel went well made it right before the storm looks to pick up again. Takin some pics here and there, hopefully some stormy scenes tomorrow. Talk to you folks then!
Patrick..
The Airport Is Officialy Reporting 15.7 inches As I Type And We Can Expect Another 3-4 Inches Which Will Make The Snow Total Accumaations Close To 20 inches
Btw Columbus Ohio Got 20 Inches Of Snow
11:30PM update 3/8: Sounds like we have gotten only about 2/3rd the snow Buffalo has out of this one, so we should be pretty close if they haven't already raced past ROC.
Yes...
As Of Today Buffalo Is Running Above Average Snowfall For The Season And With This Storm That Gave Us About 20.5 Inches Of Snow We Passed Our Seasonal Average Snow Which Is 97 And The Good News Is We Just Need Another 6 Inches To Beat Syracuse Which Now Has 103.3 BTW Rochester Has 97.7
Patrick...
Now Buffalo Will Throw Syracuse Away Easily;;;Time For Buffalo To Rule
The General..
I Guess The Snow Dance That You Did On January Made Buffalo Get Lot Of Snow So Thank You!!!!!!
